Examination of the educational effectiveness of a Nursing Diagnostic Competency development program based on meaningful reception learning by an Advance Organizer

The purpose of this study is to clarify the usability of an educational program developed to raise the basic diagnostic competencies of nursing students、 based on meaningful reception learning by an advance organizer (hereinafter called AO)
The contents of the educational program were consisted of the theory as a base for understanding of the subject patient and nursing for them and association between the diagnostic processes and nursing intervention as AO.
Training in diffuse thinking and intensive thinking、 and brain writing methods were used to develop nursing diagnostic skills、
In the study of usefulness、 the scores before and after the educational intervention were compared using evaluation indicators.
In a comparison of the scores before and after the educational intervention、 the score of basic knowledge of nursing diagnosis after the intervention was significantly improved (p< .05). In addition、 there was a significant improvement in the ability to judge related factors/risk factors and the ability to determine the name of the diagnosis after the intervention (p< .05).
