Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction of Universities Nursing Faculty in the Foreign Documents

Background: The rapid increase in the number of nursing colleges in Japan has raised concerns about faculty shortages. Shortages of faculty members have been reported outside of Japan as well. We hypothesized that job satisfaction needs to be increased in order to retain faculty members.Background: The rapid increase in the number of nursing colleges in Japan has raised concerns about faculty shortages. We hypothesized that job satisfaction needs to be increased in order to retain faculty members.Objective: To identify factors contributing to job satisfaction among university nursing faculty members in the international literature.Methods: A total of 30 articles that met the objectives of this study were selected by AND search of job satisfaction and nursing faculty/educator in PubMed、 an international literature search site、 for the last 10 years and accessible in full text on the Internet.Results: The 30 cases were classified into 7 categories and 20 subcategories: [degree completion and research activities], [dean management], [career development of educators], [organizational culture], [improvement of hygiene and compounding factors], [mental health support], and [elimination of overwork and disparities in compensation]. Degree acquisition and research activities] are the foundation of [career development of educators], and [organizational culture] as a work environment was seen as influential、 and these were influenced by [management by the dean], who is in charge of the leadership. Stress management is associated with education and research activities、 and [mental health support] of the organization is an issue. In addition、 [Improvement of Hygiene Factors and Compound Factors] was not a situation where job satisfaction was high due to factors influenced by [Elimination of Overwork and Treatment Disparity]、 even if hygiene factors were improved as unsatisfactory factors.Conclusion: As factors affecting job satisfaction, the development as educators and researchers is influenced by the organizational culture and the leadership of the dean, and mental health support is necessary for stress management.
